Election: (CSD-Ghana) Backs The NDC’s “Enough is Enough” Protest In Demand For A Credible Voters’Register

Image
The CSD-Ghana believes strongly that the foundation of any free and fair election is a credible register and as such, any effort towards having a credible Voters’ Register must be supported by all democracy lovers. The Electoral Commission has admitted to many errors in the Electoral Roll, as pointed out by the NDC, but has failed to allow for an independent forensic audit into the same. The EC, for example, has admitted that there were illegal vote transfers in Sagnerigu, Pusiga and Tamale South by an Electoral Commission Official in Tamale South. According to the EC, these illegal transfers went through because there was no “liveness check” mechanism in place to prevent such situations.  The NDC says the situation is widespread so there must be an audit. This is a fair and reasonable call to make, but the EC has remained intransigent. CSD-Ghana stands ready to fully participate in this protest and asks other democracy lovers to join us to mount enough pressure on the Electoral Commis

ELECTION 2024: The 2024 Voters Register Is Robust And Credible, We Are Fully Prepared For 2024 Elections - EC Declares.

Image
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has confidently declared that the 2024 Voters’ Register is both robust and credible, urging citizens to disregard claims suggesting otherwise. In an X post on Wednesday, the Commission emphasised the integrity and reliability of the Voters’ Register, assuring the public that it is fully prepared for the upcoming 2024 Elections. This follows claims by the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the register has discrepancies that must be corrected ahead of the elections. NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has also asked the EC to sit up and do its work properly. Speaking at a gathering in Adjen Kotoku within the Amasaman constituency as part of his Greater Accra regional campaign on Wednesday, Mahama emphasised the need for the EC to intervene immediately to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process. “A lot of people cannot find their names. Other people’s names have been transferred without their knowledge. Peopl

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician Ras Kuuku shared his thoughts on the much-discussed 24-hour economy during a studio discussion on Onua TV.  With the 2024 elections drawing closer, the topic has gained traction as John Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), campaigns on the promise of implementing a 24-hour economy. Ras Kuuku expressed his curiosity and interest in the concept, stating, "For digitalisation, we have already been experiencing it. Ghana is gradually being digitized. But we haven’t seen the 24-hour economy before." His remarks highlight the gradual shift towards a more digital society but also underline the novelty and potential impact of a 24-hour economy in Ghana. He further added, "It is something I want to see, so I would like for him [Mahama] to come and implement it so I can witness it." Ras Kuuku's statement reflects a desire to see the practical application of this economic model in the country,

In Ghana, the concept of next of kin plays a significant role in banking and financial transactions. The next of kin is typically a trusted individual designated to inherit a person's assets, including bank accounts, in the event of their passing. However, Ghanaians' perception of bank next of kin is shaped by a complex mix of cultural, social, and economic factors, leading to varying degrees of trust and security concerns. In Ghanaian culture, family ties are paramount, and the next of kin is often seen as a responsible and trustworthy individual. This cultural significance is reflected in the way Ghanaians view bank next of kin, with many considering it a vital aspect of estate planning and asset protection.
