Galamsey Menace: GRASAG to Join Catholic Bishops in Protest Against Galamsey on October 11

The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. JUST IN: Akufo-Addo extends Auditor-General’s Appointment

Akufo-Addo the president of Ghana has extends Auditor-General’s appointment Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu will spend two more years in office as his contract has been extended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Mr. Asiedu was due for statutory retirement on August 1, 2024. A notice dated June 19 from the Audit Service congratulated Mr. Asiedu on the extension. “I wish to bring to the information of all staff that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, has extended the tenure of the office of the Auditor General, Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu for the next two years,” the notice read. Meek Mills Video Shot inside the Jubilee House

We all recount meek mill's visit to Ghana during the festive periods to perform at a big concert in Ghana. During his visit, American Rapper Meek Mill too the opportunity to visit the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House and seize the opportunity to Shoot a music video at the Jubilee House.  After the released of this video footage, it generated lots of controversies and became talk of town among the Ghanaian community. I’ll take responsibility for my mistake! - Rapper Meek Mill

Meek mill was billed to perform in Ghana during the Christmas periods and he took the opportunity to visit the Jubilee House and took videos which was later released as music video of one of his songs. This action from the American Rapper Meek Mill generated a lot of controversies among Ghanaians and has drown international attention. the rapper took to his social media platform to apologize to Ghana and it's citizens. His message is below. From Meek Mill “I don’t think they knew it was video footage when we asked to shoot it’s a small camera and one kid … in America we didn’t know this existed and was excited to show because they don’t show Ghana on our media much! So I’ll take responsibility for my mistake! Not intentional”

Rex Omar, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization Many people are expressing divided opinion on social media after American rapper, Meek Mill, who recently paid a visit to Ghana released a music video he shot inside the seat of government. Meek Mill was billed to perform at the Afrochella event in Accra and was later spotted with the President at the Jubilee House together with Akufo-Addo’s daughter who is the Chief Executive Officer at the Creative Arts Council. Rex Omar, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), sharing his thoughts on the issue, rhetorical said, ‘what wrong did we do to Akufo-Addo by making him our head of state’. He raged “I’m really finding it very difficult to understand the disdain and the total lack of respect the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has been displaying to Ghanaians. “What wrong did we do to Akufo-Addo by making him our head of state?
