Election: (CSD-Ghana) Backs The NDC’s “Enough is Enough” Protest In Demand For A Credible Voters’Register

The CSD-Ghana believes strongly that the foundation of any free and fair election is a credible register and as such, any effort towards having a credible Voters’ Register must be supported by all democracy lovers. The Electoral Commission has admitted to many errors in the Electoral Roll, as pointed out by the NDC, but has failed to allow for an independent forensic audit into the same. The EC, for example, has admitted that there were illegal vote transfers in Sagnerigu, Pusiga and Tamale South by an Electoral Commission Official in Tamale South. According to the EC, these illegal transfers went through because there was no “liveness check” mechanism in place to prevent such situations.  The NDC says the situation is widespread so there must be an audit. This is a fair and reasonable call to make, but the EC has remained intransigent. CSD-Ghana stands ready to fully participate in this protest and asks other democracy lovers to join us to mount enough pressure on the Electoral Commis

Russian President Vladimir Putin was sworn in for his fifth term in Moscow on Tuesday, two months after being re-elected in a vote that was widely seen as neither free nor fair. The 71-year-old took the oath of office in a ceremony in the Kremlin, with several thousand people including senior Russian politicians and other high-ranking guests in attendance. Putin received 87% of the vote in March’s presidential election, which was overshadowed by widespread allegations of fraud, coercion and irregularities. Ghanaian musician Medikal has explained why his Indigo O2 concert started late, but they had to end the programme early. He disclosed that the management of the facility has strict rules and regulations that the team has to adhere to. Ghanaian musician Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly called Medikal, has addressed some issues regarding the duration of his Indigo O2 concert and performances of the loyal friends and musicians who travelled to London to support him. The Omo Ada hitmaker explained that although his fans couldn't arrive on time for the programme to start early, the team had to end at exactly 11:00 pm to avoid paying a huge amount for breach of contract. Medikal added that this affected the number of songs the musicians performed, including BET rapper Sarkodie, who had to choose only two songs from his hit songs. Following Medikal’s big announcement on stage during his O2 Indigo concert that he is now single, people have been sharing their views on the matter. The former Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Weija-Gbawe, Patrick Kumor, has reportedly passed away. His death followed a brief illness. He was among the 25 MCEs whose appointments were recently rescinded by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Mr. Michael Danquah succeeded Mr. Kumor in his position. During his tenure, Mr. Kumor initiated numerous projects within the Municipality. In December 2022, Mr Kumor was awarded the UCIA 2022 Dynamic Achievers Award for Excellence in Leadership.
