Galamsey Menace: GRASAG to Join Catholic Bishops in Protest Against Galamsey on October 11

The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. Rick Ross has added Ghanaian rapper Medikal to his growing list of African superstar friends

The US-based rapper recently hosted Medikal for a live Instagram interaction, talking about his recent strides in London

Rick Ross also expressed his keenness to join Medikal's Stubborn Academy gang.
The rapper recently recounted his success story with US-based record executive and rapper Rick Ross, who raised a glass in his honour.

During the conversation, the rappers talked about a mutual acquaintance, Brett Berish, the CEO of Belaire Champagne, who remains an avid fan of Medikal after hearing his Stubborn Academy hit record with Shatta Wale.

Rick Ross joked about enrolling in Medikal's Stubborn Academy as he shared a few of his initiatives with Medikal.

The MMG boss is currently on a mission to unite various top African stars for his upcoming project. So far, the rapper has included King Promise, Stonebwoy and Black Sherif in his plans as he ramps up preparations for the collaborative project.

Medikal shared his readiness to work with Rick Ross and also promised the American rapper a good time when he finally arrives in Ghana.

When you come, you aren't sleeping. I won't take you to the bougie areas. I will take you to the streets. Sowutuom and Nima," Medikal established.

Breaking News: A Military Man Shot Dead At Kasoa Over Alleged Land Dispute

A military officer in his late 30s was shot dead in Millennium City during a land dispute, while two other officers narrowly escaped death. The incident occurred near the Millennium City District Police Command at Kasoa in the Central region of Ghana. According to reports, the brother of one of the military officers had purchased land from a landowner identified as Winnebo Ndego. However, a group led by one Fiifi consistently prevented them from developing the land. On the evening of April 30, 2024, the deceased officer and two fellow military officers, in uniform, went to the land to assess the situation. They found another group working on the property. The officers called for the group to stop and settle the matter at the police station since an initial complaint had been lodged already but the group did not comply.
