Galamsey Menace: GRASAG to Join Catholic Bishops in Protest Against Galamsey on October 11

The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. 23 Years Cerebral Palsy Victim Graduates University With Second Class Upper

Miss Abigail Nyameye Arko, a 23- year old lady who is living with cerebral palsy has defied all odds and graduated from the Takoradi Technical University (TTU). She graduated with a Second Class Upper (HND) in Information Communication Technology (ICT) She was given a special award for her outstanding performance and also for giving practical meaning to the saying that “disability is not inability”. The award, which was in a form of a citation was also to recognize her outstanding efforts towards the realization of her academic career and goals much against her challenge. The citation stated, “You defied the limitations with cerebral palsy by blazing on your strong and positive character towards every activity in your line of studies at the University”. “You are a role model with a resistant spirit for which reason you are so much revered by your colleagues and everyone in the university”.
