Election: (CSD-Ghana) Backs The NDC’s “Enough is Enough” Protest In Demand For A Credible Voters’Register

The CSD-Ghana believes strongly that the foundation of any free and fair election is a credible register and as such, any effort towards having a credible Voters’ Register must be supported by all democracy lovers. The Electoral Commission has admitted to many errors in the Electoral Roll, as pointed out by the NDC, but has failed to allow for an independent forensic audit into the same. The EC, for example, has admitted that there were illegal vote transfers in Sagnerigu, Pusiga and Tamale South by an Electoral Commission Official in Tamale South. According to the EC, these illegal transfers went through because there was no “liveness check” mechanism in place to prevent such situations.  The NDC says the situation is widespread so there must be an audit. This is a fair and reasonable call to make, but the EC has remained intransigent. CSD-Ghana stands ready to fully participate in this protest and asks other democracy lovers to join us to mount enough pressure on the Electoral Commis

Court allegedly rubbishes Serwaa Amihere’s case

Ghanaian media personality, Serwaa Amihere recently dragged her once-upon-a-time darling Henry Fitz among others to court. Per the reports that flew across social media platforms, the trio were charged with blackmailing among other charges. The report divulged that the police arrested the wife of Henry Fitz and Edem Savior Ketti, but were unable to get the man himself, Henry Fitz. Whilst Edem Saviour Ketti was arrested at his hideout at Dzorwulu, Candylove Kwaykewaa Ababio was arrested at an undisclosed location. He went to apologize to the victims for causing them pain and went ahead to donate some money to them to help them pay off their medical bills. Ex-MASLOC Boss, Operations Manager Jailed 15 Years

The runaway former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu and Operations Manager, Daniel Axim, have been sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for causing financial loss to the state. The two were dragged before the court in 2019 charged with a total of 78 charges of causing a total of GHc93,044,134.66 financial loos to the state. They were also charged for conspiracy to steal, stealing, money laundering while Madam Attionu was separately charged for causing loss to public property, unauthorised commitment resulting in financial obligation for government, and contravention of the Public Procurement Act. The two were found guilty of the all the 78 charges levelled against them after the court presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, a Justice of the Court of Appeal sitting as an additional High Court Judge, held that the prosecution has led sufficient evidence against the convicts who could not put up a reasonab

Police Declare Readiness For Aboakyere Festival

The Effutu Police has hinted at its readiness to maintain peace and order in the forthcoming Aboakyer festival. He warned that it would ruthlessly deal with any individual or group of persons who would attempt to foment trouble during the period. The police have consequently asked people harbouring such intentions to change because they would not be spared when arrested. A Police source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of citizens of Effutu Oma, as well as all visitors who would join the chiefs and people to commemorate the 2024 edition of the Aboakyer Festival.
