Election: (CSD-Ghana) Backs The NDC’s “Enough is Enough” Protest In Demand For A Credible Voters’Register

The CSD-Ghana believes strongly that the foundation of any free and fair election is a credible register and as such, any effort towards having a credible Voters’ Register must be supported by all democracy lovers. The Electoral Commission has admitted to many errors in the Electoral Roll, as pointed out by the NDC, but has failed to allow for an independent forensic audit into the same. The EC, for example, has admitted that there were illegal vote transfers in Sagnerigu, Pusiga and Tamale South by an Electoral Commission Official in Tamale South. According to the EC, these illegal transfers went through because there was no “liveness check” mechanism in place to prevent such situations.  The NDC says the situation is widespread so there must be an audit. This is a fair and reasonable call to make, but the EC has remained intransigent. CSD-Ghana stands ready to fully participate in this protest and asks other democracy lovers to join us to mount enough pressure on the Electoral Commis

The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has stated that the government will keep burning excavators and other machinery used in small-scale mining otherwise known as ‘galamsey’. This he said is to deter people from giving out their excavators for galamsey activities. He warned that the move is to deal ruthlessly with big men behind the illegal mining menace. He warned that government will not watch aloof for small-scale miners to destroy lands and water bodies. The Regional Minister added that health workers in the region report that kidney cases have gone up due to activities by small-scale miners. Mr. Darko-Mensah said government will not allow the activities of small-scale miners to destruct governance in the country. “We will keep burning excavators till small-scale miners (galamseyers) stop purchasing such machines. Abdul Malik Kweku Baako and Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, has stated that Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe, Executive Assistant & Head of Social Media, Office of the President, is part of the country's problem and not the solution. Otto Addo, Ghana Black Stars Head Coach Black Stars coach Otto Addo has named Ghana’s final squad for the 2022 World Cup. Injuries have ravaged the squad as goalkeepers, Richard Ofori, Jojo Wollacott, and Baba Iddrisu have all been ruled out. BREAKING NEWS : Proceed With Premiering Of Galamsey Economy Exposé - AICC To Tiger Eye PI

 The AICC in a statement said the initial confusion was due to a scheduling conflict at the level of the AICC staff and not a political decision. The statement signed by the Director of the AICC, Vivian K.A Asempapa added that the matter had been resolved and the premiere will come off as scheduled at 5 pm and 8 pm on both days. Meanwhile, Tiger Eye P.I. in a separate statement said it had agreed to go ahead with the public screening of Galamsey Economy. "Tiger Eye affirms that we were denied use of the place barely 48 hours to the public screening. We had already paid in full the initial cost and also made additional payment via cheque when AICC increased the cost of the venue by about 30 per cent. "We also want to place on record that Tiger Eye P.I. does not sell tickets for public screening. It is free. Tiger Eye Also uses electronic medium to broadcast its investigative work all the time.
