Galamsey Menace: GRASAG to Join Catholic Bishops in Protest Against Galamsey on October 11

The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. Ahanta West: Mother allegedly hangs son and herself

  A young mother has committed suicide at Ajoa, a community in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region. Before committing suicide, she hanged her son. It is currently unknown what caused her to take her life and that of her son but eyewitnesses who interacted with the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, narrated that they met the lifeless,  bodies of the young mother and her son in the early morning of Wednesday, January 2023. “We came to work in the building as labourers and saw the lifeless body of the lady and her son when we got there,” an eye witness by name Nana Yaw said. “She could be in her early twenties whilst her son would be around four years. We don’t know where they come from and we don’t know any of their family members. They are still there on the ropes,” Nana Yaw added. The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Patrick Seidu, has been sacked by President Nana Akufo-Addo. A letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare noted that Mr Seidu is expected to comprehensively hand over his duties and any official property to the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority before his departure. His dismissal is expected to take effect from March 21, 2023. “We wish to inform you that, H. E. the President has decided to terminate your appointment as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority with effect from 21st March 2023. “You are expected to comprehensively hand over your duties and any official property in your custody to the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority before your departure. 23 Years Cerebral Palsy Victim Graduates University With Second Class Upper

Miss Abigail Nyameye Arko, a 23- year old lady who is living with cerebral palsy has defied all odds and graduated from the Takoradi Technical University (TTU). She graduated with a Second Class Upper (HND) in Information Communication Technology (ICT) She was given a special award for her outstanding performance and also for giving practical meaning to the saying that “disability is not inability”. The award, which was in a form of a citation was also to recognize her outstanding efforts towards the realization of her academic career and goals much against her challenge. The citation stated, “You defied the limitations with cerebral palsy by blazing on your strong and positive character towards every activity in your line of studies at the University”. “You are a role model with a resistant spirit for which reason you are so much revered by your colleagues and everyone in the university”. Gunmen Attack Apostle Johnson Suleman’s Convoy, Killed Seven

Gunmen, on Friday evening, attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries along the Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State, and killed seven persons including three policemen. The outspoken cleric was said to be returning to his Auchi base from Benin City after a foreign trip when suspected kidnappers opened fire on his convoy around Warrake village close to Auchi Town. The well-armed gunmen killed three of his police escorts and four other yet-to-be-identified persons. Also, Apostle Suleman in a recorded video after the attack, said he escaped assassination, even as he confirmed the killing of seven persons in his convoy. He revealed the perpetrators to be those who have been responsible for scandalizing him previously.

Meek mill was billed to perform in Ghana during the Christmas periods and he took the opportunity to visit the Jubilee House and took videos which was later released as music video of one of his songs. This action from the American Rapper Meek Mill generated a lot of controversies among Ghanaians and has drown international attention. the rapper took to his social media platform to apologize to Ghana and it's citizens.
