The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. Police Officer In Uniform Caught By Chief Red Handed Smoking "Wee"

A police officer, Francis Adetsi from ofoase in the Eastern region stationed at Ayirebi has been caught smoking weed at Akim Etwereso in Akyemansa District. He was caught red-handed by Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe, Etweresohene and his entourage who were touring the community. Daasebre Ayebiahwee and his entourage saw a boy emerging from the bush having engaged in open defecation. The Chief asked the boy to lead them to where he defecated presumably to get evidence to punish him but on their way to the bush, the police officer in uniform and others were seen at a ghetto in the bush smoking weed with smoke all over the place. The Chief rebuked the wee smokers in a video taken as evidence. It is not clear if the police officer and other suspects were arrested and handed over to police. The video of the said incident has since been posted on the Facebook wall of Daasebre Ayebiahwee. OA BUS DRIVER BATTLING FOR HIS LIFE AS ROBBERS ATTACK BUS ON KINTAMPO HIGHWAY

A driver of an OA bus is battling for his life after sustaining gunshot wounds during a robbery attack on the Techiman-Kintampo highway. The intercity travel bus was heading towards Burkina Faso from Kumasi when they were stopped by robbers upon getting to Jema, the capital of Kintampo.  The incident reportedly happened at around 12am, Thursday, January 19. The driver, Mohammed Ibrahim, managed to narrate to Adom News that they were greeted by gunshot from the robbers numbering four. He added that he fled for his safety after he was shot multiple times in his arm, while the robbers took over the bus. Other passengers sustained injuries from the shattered windows, as other visibly shaken passengers had their property stolen. The police were alerted, but the robbers were gone before the officers arrived. The driver and other injured passengers were transported to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital for treatment. A 29-year-old man identified as Richard Boadi Abunya has allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Sehwi Bodi in the Western North Region. According to reports gathered, the deceased was a mobile money vendor and credit card dealer at Sehwi Bodi. In the early hours of Friday, January 13, 2023, one woman went to his house to buy a credit card. She knocked at his door numerously but nobody answered so the deceased sister also knocked and called out to reach him but that proved futile. When they succeeded in breaking into the room, they found the deceased hanging from a crossing bar with a sponge tied to his neck.

The 2022 VGMA ‘New Artist of the Year’, Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, who is popularly called Black Sherif, has put smiles on the faces of some mothers who were ‘detained’ at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital. The sensational musician has settled all their outstanding debts at the hospital following the successful delivery. Apparently, most of these new mothers could not foot the bills the hospital was demanding after they gave birth. Black Sherif visited the hospital today, January 18, 2023, together with his team to pay these bills and afford these new mothers an opportunity to finally reunite with their families at home. Aside from the payment of the bills, the ‘Second Sermon’ hitmaker provided these mothers with food and toiletries to make their lives back at home easier. After this kind gesture, the mothers who got their bills paid and the hospital administration and staff expressed their sincere gratitude to Black Sherif.

A 20-year-old man who dresses like a female has been lynched by unknown assailants, Degeniuz Blog reports. According to Bolgatanga-based A1 radio, the young man from Zanlerigu in Nabdam district of the Upper East Region was found at the regional hospital morgue several weeks after he went missing. Assemblyman for the Zanlerigu-Dagliga electoral area, Maxwell‎ Divom who spoke to A1 Radio said “On the 3rd of January, it was reported at his father’s house that he was missing. So, we were looking for him, and later, on the 10th day of January, we heard that someone was allegedly killed at Kongo Nag-boug and so, the uncles went to the morgue to see the body and it was identified that it was him [Bugbil Roger Adaboo Toure].” He indicated that when the body was found in Kongo in the Upper East Region, there were huge stones found around it; an indication that he was stoned to death by some persons. “When the body was found, he was wearing a mini skirt and brassiere which portrayed a lady.
