The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. Just In: Two In Court Over Alleged "Agenda 111 contract Sale

  Three people, who allegedly faked an Agenda 111 Hospital project contract, have been charged with defrauding by false pretense. They are said to have convinced the Managing Director of the DBS Industries Limited to part with monies worth over GH¢1million in exchange for the government contract and four vehicles – three tipper trucks and one backhoe machine. Two of them were arraigned at the Accra Circuit Court presided over by Afia Owusua Appiah last Monday (February 27, 2023). They are Ebenezer Kwame Boadi and Frank A-Ugidimah-Ananvura Aborigo. The third accused person, only known as Mike is on the run. They have been charged with defrauding by false pretense. They reportedly offered a government contract, which they claimed they had been offered under the Agenda 111 Hospital project, according to the prosecution. The Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Huze, has picked up nomination forms for former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor. Dr. Duffour joins former President John Dramani Mahama, and Kojo Bonsu Ernest Kobeah, who have all picked their forms to contest. The NDC officially opened nominations on Wednesday ahead of the 2024 elections. Some Women Organizers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have bought the presidential nomination forms for Dr Kwabena Dufdour to contest the NDC flagbearership race. The Women Organizers, led by Gloria Huze, the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer stormed the NDC’s Headquarters in Adabraka to pick the forms, handing a cheque of GH₵‎30, 000 cedis to Lawyer is Kakra Essamoah, the Director of Election of the NDC, who later handed it over to the Accountant of the party. Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. The man of God who has been incapacitated for sometime now finally succumbed to the icy hands of death. In the press statement confirming and revealing the cause of his death said the popular charismatic preacher died after battling with a stroke since October 23, 2021, which eventually led to his demise.
