The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. Breaking News: A Military Man Shot Dead At Kasoa Over Alleged Land Dispute

A military officer in his late 30s was shot dead in Millennium City during a land dispute, while two other officers narrowly escaped death. The incident occurred near the Millennium City District Police Command at Kasoa in the Central region of Ghana. According to reports, the brother of one of the military officers had purchased land from a landowner identified as Winnebo Ndego. However, a group led by one Fiifi consistently prevented them from developing the land.
