Election: (CSD-Ghana) Backs The NDC’s “Enough is Enough” Protest In Demand For A Credible Voters’Register

The CSD-Ghana believes strongly that the foundation of any free and fair election is a credible register and as such, any effort towards having a credible Voters’ Register must be supported by all democracy lovers. The Electoral Commission has admitted to many errors in the Electoral Roll, as pointed out by the NDC, but has failed to allow for an independent forensic audit into the same. The EC, for example, has admitted that there were illegal vote transfers in Sagnerigu, Pusiga and Tamale South by an Electoral Commission Official in Tamale South. According to the EC, these illegal transfers went through because there was no “liveness check” mechanism in place to prevent such situations.  The NDC says the situation is widespread so there must be an audit. This is a fair and reasonable call to make, but the EC has remained intransigent. The Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Huze, has picked up nomination forms for former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor. Dr. Duffour joins former President John Dramani Mahama, and Kojo Bonsu Ernest Kobeah, who have all picked their forms to contest. The NDC officially opened nominations on Wednesday ahead of the 2024 elections. Chairman of the Election Committee, Kakra Asamoah, appealed to Dr. Duffuor to bring his expertise in finance to save Ghana’s dwindling economy. “I together with all Ghanaians have been overpowered by the stench of corruption on Akufo-Addo. We know it’s an NDC man who can take us out of this, provided he gets the vote of the delegates,” he said. Meanwhile, the former Finance Minister says he will revive the economy in two years. Some Women Organizers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have bought the presidential nomination forms for Dr Kwabena Dufdour to contest the NDC flagbearership race. The Women Organizers, led by Gloria Huze, the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer stormed the NDC’s Headquarters in Adabraka to pick the forms, handing a cheque of GH₵‎30, 000 cedis to Lawyer is Kakra Essamoah, the Director of Election of the NDC, who later handed it over to the Accountant of the party. According to Madam Gloria Huze, the Women Organizers are from the branch, constituency and regional levels of the party across the 16 regions of Ghana. Madam Gloria Huze explained that the women organizer decided to contribute to buy the forms for Dr Duffour because they believe in his vision for Ghana, She added that the current state of the Ghanaian economy required someone with a proven track record in economic management to lead the country to the path of recovery, growth and prosperity. Businessman and Co-Founder of now defunct UT Bank Prince Kofi Amoabeng has endorsed the opposition National Democratic Congress as the only viable option to take over government after 2024 elections.
