Galamsey Menace: GRASAG to Join Catholic Bishops in Protest Against Galamsey on October 11

The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has announced its intention to join forces with the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference in a nationwide protest against illegal mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, and what they describe as worsening governance in the country. The protest, scheduled for October 11, 2024, is expected to draw significant attention to the environmental degradation caused by galamsey and the perceived lapses in leadership in addressing the issue. The Catholic Bishops have been vocal in their criticisms of illegal mining, which has devastated large portions of Ghana’s forests, farmlands, and water bodies. They argue that despite various government initiatives to combat galamsey, the issue persists, posing a serious threat to the environment and livelihoods across the country. NDC MP Okudzeto Ablakwa walks out of Asempa FM Studios Over Heated Altercation With Producer





The Studios of Asempa FM Ekosii Sen was heated when Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa walked out after heated exchanges and insults.

The  had a heated altercation with Asempa FM Producer, one Ampadu whose image had been posted on Facebook by the MP as part of the JNS Limited Scandal regarding payments from accounts of the National Cathedral.

According to Omanhene Kwabena Asante, Okudzeto Ablakwa told Ampadu “he is an ordinary producer” after the producer raised questions about the actions of the MP that mistakenly included his image although he is not part of the JNS Limited.

The two engaged in heated exchange of words off air before the MP walked out of the show after advertising his appearance.
Omanhene Kwabena Asante, Co-Host of Ekosii Sen accused the North MP of “arrogance” asking him who the hell he was.

“Yesterday Ekosii Sen you (Okudzeto) came to stand there  talking anyhow. Saying Ampadu is an ordinary producer. Who the hell are you” he said.

“You call Ampadu an ordinary producer.  But for politics who are you? People assume certain positions and they talk anyhow. If not for politics who are you? Okudzeto Ablakwa. Why?  Let’s not do this to ourselves.” He added.

“People get positions and all of a sudden. It is today it you tomorrow it someone else. You don’t respect anybody” he said.
